• final_place is populated only when a discipline session is explicitly finalized in backend/src/services/meets.ts:87.
  
• Legacy 100m fixture rows live in results.placing, not session_results.final_place, and are not included in the standings calculation at all.
  So every club will show 0 when:
  
• Your shared fixtures use the legacy 100m result flow, or
  
• Your session results are completed but not finalized, leaving final_place as NULL.
  Recommended Fix Plan
  

1. Keep finalized session results as the authoritative source for multi-discipline standings.
   
2. Extend the standings scored CTE with a UNION ALL for legacy results:
   

• Use results.placing as the place.
  
• Include completed shared fixtures only.
  
• Require valid positive effective results, active athletes, public clubs, and accepted current fixture membership.
  
• Apply the same 5 / 3 / 1 mapping.
  

3. Keep unfinalized session results at zero by design:
   

• Standings should only use official results.
  
• Add UI text explaining that points appear after session finalization.
  

4. Add real-Postgres integration coverage for:
   

• Legacy 100m first/second/third fixture results.
  
• Finalized session individual results.
  
• Finalized relay results counted once for the club.
  
• Completed but unfinalized sessions producing no points.
  
• Tie placements receiving the correct shared-place points.
  

5. Add a frontend test showing a legitimate zero-point club separately from a loading or query failure.
   One decision is needed before implementation: should unfinalized session results remain excluded, as recommended for official standings, or should the page show provisional points with a clear “provisional” label?
